The Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort was the setting for the Salute to Achievers Luncheon on Saturday, June 12 where the Advertising Club of Toledo won Third Place in Advertising Education for AdWORKS in the 2010 National Club Achievement Awards. Representatives from all 50 states were present at the American Advertising Association’s annual event which also introduced the incoming National AAF Officers and the National Silver Medal Award winner. AdClub First Vice President Kathy Jex was present to accept the award on behalf of the Club. In addition to a plaque, the Club received a grant for $200 to further promote advertising education in Toledo.
National Club Achievement Awards are given in the categories of Advertising Education, Club Operations, Communications, Diversity and Multicultural Initiatives, Government Relations, Membership Development, Programs, and Public Service. Additionally, a “club of the year” is chosen in each division. The clubs of the year are determined by the total score of their entries in the eight categories. Clubs and federations are divided into five divisions based on membership size and compete within those divisions.
Awards for advertising education are given to AAF member clubs whose programs improve the skills of professionalism and standards of advertising practitioners. Education programs also provide an understanding of and confidence in advertising and its contributions to the community and economy. Saatchi & Saatchi provides a grant for all advertising education winners annually to signify the agency’s commitment to advancing the professionalism and high standards of the industry.
